In 2005, a couple united by a deep respect for First Responders—whom they saw as modern-day heroes—embarked on a journey that would shape the future of Firefighter safety in the northeast. 

Earlier in 1999, John was beginning his career as a rookie firefighter in the Atlanta Fire Department, a path that would eventually lead him to become a retired Captain of the Picatinny Arsenal Fire Department in New Jersey. Justine, having immigrated from Poland as a teenager, was now working as an Office Manager for a small family-run business. It was then that their paths crossed—and the rest, as they say, is history.

Throughout his career, John was unwavering in his commitment to protecting his fellow firefighters. He immersed himself in learning from industry experts and made it his mission to ensure his team had access to the highest quality protective gear. This passion led John and Justine to establish Skylands Area Fire Equipment and Training—better known as SAFE-T. 

Their first partnership was with Morning Pride, a leading manufacturer of personal protective equipment based in Dayton, Ohio. Over time, they expanded their offerings to include a wide range of products and services.

For two decades, SAFE-T has been a trusted name in New Jersey, known for delivering premium turnout gear and firefighting equipment. From serving a handful of local agencies to supporting hundreds across the state, John and Justine have remained steadfast in their mission: putting firefighter safety above all else.

This marks an exciting new chapter, as we expand our horizon into central Florida, a place we’ve cherished as our second home for nearly two decades. Our commitment remains unchanged: to deliver the same exceptional service, while offering honest, personalized, and well-informed guidance.

Rather than chasing fleeting social media trends or relying on paid algorithms, our philosophy always centers on building lasting relationships rooted in education, integrity, and excellence. Every department we serve receives a tailored approach, reflecting our dedication to their unique needs.
